How to unwind at night

In relation to my first blog post ‘7 easy tips to feel and look more awake’ this post is about how to unwind at night to feel calm and relaxed for a good night’s sleep.

One of the first tips to feeling relaxed after a long day is to clean the space that you feel most appropriate to relax in so that there is no clutter meaning you can feel calm in a clean and tidy environment. To add to this calming atmosphere burning a candle or two can give help you feel more relaxed if you choose a scent you like and feel is appropriate for you.

Running a bath and using products specifically to make you feel peaceful as they have lavender aromas to make you feel tired. Once you are out the bath moisturising is key to keep your skin hydrated – if you use a scented moisturiser the scent will make you feel refreshed and comfortable. After you have fully moisturised changing into something you find comfortable -whether it be pyjamas, joggers, or something soft and cosy – will allow you to unwind without feeling any sort of discomfort from your clothing.

Another step which allows you to feel tranquil is to cleanse you skin and apply some kind of face mask (and if you are feel you need extra luxury adding slices of cucumber over each eye – yes, it’s stereotypical but it really does work) this way you can lie back and forget about everything that has been stressing you out lately.

Everyone relaxes in different ways, some people like to read, some enjoy watching television or a film while others prefer to just lie back and do nothing, so decide what you like best and sit back and enjoy it for a few hours allowing the stress to drift away.

As a final step for complete relaxation add some lavender scented drops to your pillow before you get into bed this will aid you into a restful night’s sleep so you will wake up felling refreshed in the morning.
